Tim has been fishing and around boats all of his life. Growing up outside of Boston and spending his summers on Cape Cod, Tim fell in love with the water and fishing. From fly fishing trout streams in New Hampshire to overnight offshore trips, if there was room on the boat, Tim was there! With an education in welding and metal fabrication, and his love for sportfishing, it was only a matter of time before the two collided.
In 1983 Tim relocated to Ft. Lauderdale and found a whole new world that revolved around boats and fishing. It wasn’t long before he was mating on charter boats on the weekends for little or no pay just to get out on the water. He also found a job fabricating tuna towers, right up his alley! It wasn’t long before he worked his way up to traveling around the world installing tuna towers on some of the most prestigious sportfishing boats in the world. From many of the premier custom sportfishing boats such as Ricky Scarborough, Buddy Davis, Sunny Briggs, John Bayliss, Paul Spencer and Garlington to Viking Yachts and Hatteras Yachts, Tim was the guy who spent hours on end and around the clock if necessary doing whatever it took to make sure these boats were ready to go to their tournaments and boat shows.
Since most of the customers Tim serviced were in North Carolina, it only made sense for his company to move him there. So in 1997 Tim and his family relocated to Eastern North Carolina where he continued his work and recruited local talent to establish a remote installation facility for his company.
In 2004 Tim was recruited by another Florida company to oversee a North Carolina facility that was touted as the largest state of the art indoor tower facility on the east coast. It wasn’t long after establishing a second company in North Carolina before Tim realized while it was great working for others, his true calling was to be able to service customers on his own terms. Tim takes great pride in the individual care each and every customer receives and deserves.
This along with Tim’s love for living in North Carolina and the many personalities in the industry is why Carolina Custom Towers was founded and this is our creed.
